Ivy's screams could be heard through out the land. Shrilling ear piercing wails! Baby was hungry, baby would not eat...
Last Tuesday evening Ivy ate an okish meal of boob and refused her normal 10pm, make going to bed easy, snack. She slept horribly waking every hour, each of those hours I tried to give her milk from my ever expanding painful milk machines. She would not eat. The next morning every time I tried to bring her close to a boob she would wail in pain and clench her fists and push away. Even during my weekly meet up with my baby group from our birth classes she would not eat, we even tried formula and she would not drink a drop.
I left early driving home in hopes she would take formula from a bottle from home. I called the health link nurse while making the bottle. She wouldn't eat from the bottle. The health link nurse asked how many dirty diapers she has had, and I realized she didn't have one all night....both myself and the nurse realized she may be dehydrated. It was off to the emergency room for us!
A few hours later Ivy was diagnosed with thrush. A yeasty like infection inside her mouth, it made eating ouchy for her. With some yummy cherry tasting medicine she is back to her chubbing up ways!
To celebrate her glorious recovery Keith and I decided to take Ivy to her first Stampede! Do you remember me talking about this last year? Its the greatest outdoor show on earth! Click here for more details please...
Its basically our city's excuse to dress up as cowboys for a week!
Shes plushy and toyish!
First thing we did was check out the Superdogs! As you can tell by Ivy's expression she was amazed! She fell asleep shortly after!
We of course had to get Ivy a cowboy hat! She was the star of the grounds, everyone who passed her gave her googly eyes!
We saw lots of animals, cows, chickens, horses even lamas!
My cute little cowgirl!
Keith was loving all the military gear they brought out!
We had a great time at the Stampede!
my friends baby had that, the one that was born the same time as Ivy. Weird.

awwwww! Poor baby girl. Glad you figured out what it was. As I was reading the beginning of that post, I was thinking it was thrush, I hear about that quite a bit. Glad you had fun at the Stampede!

Poor baby! I am so sorry to hear about the thrush. I am so terrified of that happening to us, too. It sounds so scary and the thought of her not being able to eat but starving just breaks my heart. Hope it clears up VERY soon!
Your photos are so adorable!!

From your title I was thinking something really odd must have happened to you. Glad to know everyone is o.k. and little Ivy is recovering from thrush. Very common. Very gross. She is a little trooper. And very cute in her cowgirl getup I must say.

Sorry to hear about the thrush :( I'm impressed you took Ivy to the Stampede, and that you found a small enough hat to fit her!
