First off, please give a round of applause to little Ayla:
She said her first word!! MORE!
We say this a lot to her. I think she thinks the Mum Mum rice cakes are "more" haha! But every time we say more to her, her face lights up and last night when pulling out a mum mum she looked and said more, then said more more more! Keith and my parents heard it too! WOW so crazy.
Laundry, oh laundry.
It feels like its a constant chore. I do it every 2 weeks, sometimes every 3!! It takes sooo much time with the sorting and washing and drying and folding and BLAH! And I have a dirty little laundry secret......
I am quite opposite to being green when it comes to cleaning our clothes! And I am not changing anytime soon.
I KNOW, EVIL!! I am so green in so many areas of our lives, using natural products and saving water and all that. But not with laundry.
Here's my reasoning.
I have a friend, a wonderful friend who has 2 daughters older then mine. She GIVES me all their outgrown clothes.....I know, I am blessed. I have not had to buy Ivy clothes since this friend started dropping off her awesome boxes.
So these clothes are saving our family loads of money. Now they have been through 2 of her kids (and are in great condition!) now it is my job to make sure they will go through my 2 girls (maybe my 3 girls!) so it is important they are cleaned well.
So on stains I use Resolve dual power spray and wash, with its big corrosive sign right there on the bottle. YUP. This stuff takes out EVERYTHING. Because yes I want these clothes to last, but I do not get in the way with childhood to make them stay clean, because I do not believe in that. I let Ivy be a KID, run in puddles, jump in mud, roll in grass, spill spaghetti all over herself be messy. And Ayla, well she poos and pees and pukes all over her stuff and this stuff gets it all out!!
I know the sun does the same awesome stain fighting, but there are only 5 months here were I could hang clothes outside, and seriously I don't have that kinda time!
For laundry soap I use PC cold water liquid laundry soap. With a sprinkle of PC baby washing powder (another stain fighter) in every load. But then I don't use the coldwater setting! SO BAD! I use the settings on my awesome machine. Whites, or heavy load for jeans, or normal for darks or towels, bedding or sanitize for all those bibs and puke blankets!
It takes a long time to wash the clothes this way, but they come out smelling great, CLEAN and stain free.
So it's bad, but it works. I actually don't feel guilty in this area (which is weird for me, because I always feel guilty about not doing my best to protect this planet) because I know how important it is to keep these clothes lasting, to make it through all my kids, without them looking homeless! haha.
What are your laundry tricks?
TODAY: I get to go with my mom to look at a few houses, ahhhh so excited! I love this stuff!!
